Maaya Yamauchi-Beauty Profile

Hello and welcome to Keshoume's very first beauty profile! My name is Maaya and I am the Founder/Owner of Keshoume! You may think that I know a lot about beauty but in reality, I don't. The fun part about opening this business is that I wanted to educate myself and go on a "self care" journey with other people who are on the same page as me; someone who's does the bare minimum but wants to learn more about what's out there. So, without further adieu, check out my profile below and let's help one another! :D

SKIN CARE

Main Concern & Product's You're Looking For

I have sensitive, combination skin. My cheeks are on the dry side but my T-zone is oily. Acne prone as well. Looking for any product out there that is good with my sensitive skin, doesn't make me break out and keeps my face moisturized!

What product(s) are you currently using or used/purchased in the past?  Results?

Cleansing Oil/Makeup Remover

Current
1. Biore Light & Smooth Cleansing Serum- My holy grail! I originally tried the Biore Makeup Remover Perfect Oil but since that stripped away all the natural oils off my skin, for someone who has dry skin, my skin got even more dry and got really irritated. I had to apply Neosporin to treat the dry spots around my eyes. The Light & Smooth Cleansing Serum is suited for people who have sensitive and dry skin. It melts away super waterproof makeup effortlessly!

Past
1.  Pele's Grace Moana- Really sad this didn't work on me. At first, I thought my skin was compatible with it but after a couple uses my skin got really dry around my eyes and started getting irritated. Absolutely love the fragrance and the fact that it's plant-derived though. Would only recommend this to people who have normal/oily skin.

Cleanser

Current
1. Keana Nadeshiko Baking Soda Face Foam- So far, loving this cleanser! It's very gentle on my skin and I have seen a huge difference in hydration. I do break out every once in awhile but they're more small pimples and manageable. Being able to create a ton of foam is a must and this cleanser delivers that!

Past
1. Minon Facial Foam- allergic reaction and broke out in hives.
2. NOV AC Washing Foam Facial Wash- No allergic reaction. Treated acne a little bit but didn't clear it out.
3. Alpha Skin Care Refreshing Face Wash- Was gentle on my sensitive skin but didn't moisturize my skin at all. Kept my skin dry and I broke out all the time.

Toner/Lotion

Current
1. NOV Ⅲ Face Lotion R- So far, the most hydrating toner that doesn't make me break out and is gentle on my skin. Texture is light and as soon as I put it on, I feel my skin getting hydrated.

Past
1. Hada Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Lotion (Smooth Light)- Was able to apply on my skin but since it's so light I couldn't use it during Chicago weather because my skin would crack. Only good for warmer weathers.
2. Hada Labo Gokujyun Hyaluronic Lotion (Moist)- Broke out a lot and face got really oily.
3. Nov AC Face Lotion- Applicable to skin but still broke out frequently and dried up my skin if anything.
4. Mujirushi Sensitive Skin Light Moisturizing Toner- Started getting hives and breaking out.
5. Cocoegg Wrinkle Lotion- Light texture but made my skin really oily, which caused me to break out a lot. When I break out I usually don't get white heads but this made me get a lot of that.
6. Shiseido d Program Moist Care Lotion- Hydrates my skin really well and doesn't cause major breakouts. Keeps my skin hydrated throughout Chicago weather!

Emulsion

Current
1. NOV Ⅲ Emulsion- I usually have really bad luck with emulsions, but this one works really well! It's light but hydrating. Doesn't feel heavy on my skin.

Past
1. Hada Labo Gokujyun Emulsion- Other than the one NOV Ⅲ Emulsion, this is, so far, the only affordable emulsion that works on me. Works well in the summer/winter of Chicago and keeps my skin hydrated. Doesn't cause breakouts!

Essence/Serum

Current
1. The Ordinary  Alpha Arbutin 2% + HA- It was either this or The Ordinary Retinol 0.5% in Squalane. I decided to get this because I've never applied a concentrate on my skin before, and also because Arbutin is more gentle than Retinoids. So far, it's been great! It's been a month since I started using it and this one sun spot that I've been wanting to get rid of is fading away. It's also gives my skin another layer of hydration because of the hyaluronic acid!

Past
1. Mad Hippie Vitamin C Serum- Would probably have to re-purchase this in order to see real results. I didn't see drastic results with the sun spots I wanted to treat but it definitely helped my skin feel hydrated. Given the price, it was a little disappointing. Will probably be more effective well if paired with another brightening serum/essence.

Moisturizer

Current
1. NOV Ⅲ Moisturizing Cream- It's been awhile since I've found a good moisturizer! The first moisturizer that I can use other than Clinique's Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion. Texture is creamy and as soon as I apply, I feel instant hydration. My skin doesn't feel oily/heavy and feels really nice and smooth! Doesn't cause breakouts as well!

Past
1. Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion- This is my go-to! I, for some reason, have really bad luck with moisturizers so whenever I get an allergic reaction, I immediately go back to this and it fixes my skin. It works both in the summer/winter of Chicago so I will always fall back on this. Unfortunately, it does have controversial ingredients so hoping to find something to replace this!
2.

Face Masks/Peeling Solutions

Current
1. The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution- This is the first peeling solution I've ever used and it's AMAZING! My skin was REALLY tingly the first time I used it but I felt the solution penetrating my skin/pores. After using this my skin feels SUPER smooth and I see a huge difference with my enlarged pores around my nose, which is the reason why I bought this. Highly recommend!
2. Quality First All in One Sheet Mask Moist Ex- Sheet masks usually make me breakout the day after but not this one! This sheet mask is gentle on sensitive skin. It's mineral oil-free, fragrance-free, color-free, paraben-free, and alcohol-free, so I feel instant hydration after usage.

Past

Sunscreen

Current
1. Isehan Kiss Me Sunkiller Perfect Water Essence Sunscreen Gel- Highly recommend this SPF! Works on my sensitive/acne prone skin. Doesn't make me breakout and love that there's no alcohol in this one. The texture is very light and it doesn't feel heavy on your skin after applying.

HAIR CARE

Main Concern & Product's You're Looking For

My hair is coarse, extremely straight and damaged at the ends. Looking for affordable products that will keep my hair moisturized!

What product(s) are you currently using or used/purchased in the past?  Results?

Shampoo/Conditioner

Current
1. Pantene Extra Damage Care Shampoo/Conditioner- The Japanese version of Pantene works effortlessly! When I jump in the shower, my hair feels dry and is tangled but after using this my hair feels ALIVE! Really treats dry ends and absolutely love the fragrance.

Past
1. Shiseido Tsubaki Moist Settled Shampoo/Conditioner- If you know Tsubaki products, you know they're amazing! This was the very first Tsubaki product I've ever used and I instantly fell in love! It's loaded with Japanese Camellia Oil and soy proteins so it moisturized my damaged hair. Smells good and feels good!

Hair Mask

Current
1. Shiseido Fino Hair Essence Mask- Shiseido never disappoints! As soon as I apply this, I feel the mask getting sucked into my hair cuticles, which means my hair is dry. After blow drying, it's like a went to get a professional hair treatment! I can't stop running my fingers through my hair for the next couple of days, for real!

Past

Leave-in Conditioner/Serum

Current
1. Pantene Intensive Vita Milk Leave In Conditioner- I cannot leave the shower without this! After I pat down my hair, I immediately apply this to the ends and then blow dry. There was one time I forgot to apply and I hated touch my hair because the ends were so tangled and dry! The amino acids and citric acids in this leave-in conditioner really help nourish the ends!

Past
1. Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum- I used to love this serum! The scent was amazing and it really helped with tangles, but for some reason, after using it back-to-back, it started not working as well. The ends started getting tangled and dry and felt as if I didn't apply anything.

BODY CARE

Main Concern & Product's You're Looking For

Looking for good body scrubs and body lotions that don't leave my skin sticky!

What product(s) are you currently using or used/purchased in the past?  Results?

Body Soap

Current
1. Dove Sensitive Skin Beauty Bar, Unscented- Honestly, I love Dove. In comparison to other body soap bars that I've used, my skin actually feels smooth after using this! For it's price and being cruelty-free, what's not to love!?

Past

Body Scrub

Current
1. Bathclin Pure Skin Shower Scrub Powder Rose- For the price, an awesome body scrub! Unlike the Sana, it's powdery so it dissolves faster on wet skin, which sucks at times because that means you'll have to use more. Smells nice and effectively exfoliates skin!

Past
 1. Sana Esteny Body Soap Salty Scrub- Absolutely loved this body scrub! It's made out of mineral salts from France and due to it's coconut oil, hyaluronic acid and collagen ingredients my skin just felt nourished and not dry after exfoliating. The only thing that sucks is once you get closer to finishing it it gets harder to push out all the salt. All you have to do is just cut it open and scrap it out.

Body Lotion

Current
1. Vaseline Intensive Care Unscented Advanced Repair Lotion- My oldest sister forgot this at my house so just trying to finish it lol! It's unscented so that's good for anyone who has allergies to fragrances. I do feel like my skin is getting moisturized using this product, but I don't like the sticky feeling after using this product. It may not bother me in the winter but in the summer, the stickiness gets bothersome in the heat.

Past
1. Gold Bond Ultimate Healing Cream- At first this body lotion was nice. It didn't result in stickiness and it was light; however, after using it for a couple months, I started feeling like even after applying, I didn't apply anything and it didn't moisturize my skin.

COSMETICS

Main Concern & Product's You're Looking For

Since I only use mascara, eyebrow pencils and CC cream nowadays, just looking for the best waterproof products and CC creams that aren't too heavy on my skin!

What product(s) are you currently using or used/purchased in the past?  Results?

Eyeliner

Current
1. Kiss Me Heroine Make Impact Liquid Eyeliner Super Waterproof- Though I don't use eyeliner anymore, if I were to, this will forever be my go-to! Took me some time to get used to the fine tip but after you get used to it, it's worth it. I've played soccer, softball and even swam, and this does NOT smudge. It's truly waterproof and is a game-changer! If you don't want to worry about smudging and want that perfect wing, this is it!

Past

Mascara

Current
1. Kiss Me Heroine Make Volume & Curl Mascara Super Waterproof- I'm obviously obsessed with Heroine Make. THE BEST MASCARA EVER! It truly is super waterproof and keeps my curls. It really makes my eyelashes looks voluminous and long. Have done tons of active activities while wearing this and it does not smudge!

Past

Foundation

Current
1. Rohto Mentholatum - Sugao Air Fit CC Cream Smooth- So far, loving this CC cream! In comparison to the Clinique CC cream, the texture is a lot thicker and creamer so you know you're putting something on your face. It is fragrance-free and alcohol-free and it doesn't cause any breakouts!

Past
1. Clinique Moisture Surge™ CC Cream Hydrating Colour Corrector- My first ever CC cream that I've tried and I loved this! It doesn't feel like your pores are getting clogged and it actually helps with moisture retention. Texture is light and it doesn't make your skin feel oily at all. The only reason I switched out of this is because I wanted to try a Japanese brand!

Eyebrows

Current
1. Covergirl Easy Breezy Brow Fill + Define Brow Pencil- Not going to lie, I do get lazy with my eyebrows. I found this at Walgreens and I've been using it since. It's easy to use and it's pretty waterproof! For it's waterproof features and price, can't complain!
